Gear of War
My entry for the js13KGames 2018 competition, a cover-based combat game designed and coded specifically for Gear VR and other 3DOF devices.
What is the main rule and biggest challenge, but also the most fun part of the js13KGames competitions? The file size limit is set to 13 kilobytes!
My entry is a tribute to Gears of War, the popular video game series well known for its emphasis on cover-based combat, in which players can use objects to avoid gunfire or safely engage enemies.
I have created this game using the Supermedium aframe-super-shooter-kit as a starting point, plus Kevin Ngo's aframe-look-at-component.
Another challenge was to create firing enemies and health damage for the player, because at the time of this writing (October 2018) an entity cannot be both a target and a firing enemy at the same time.
Demo Video
In the video below, I show a complete run of the game. As 3DOF HMDs are not supported anymore, you can still try this project on a Desktop (press the mouse left button to fire and the spacebar to take cover and dodge enemy fire).
